Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
1. Who is responsible for your data
BiLife (“BiLife”, “we”, “us”) is the data controller for personal data we process to run our service and our website. We are established at Burgtstraat 1, 6707 HE Wageningen, The Netherlands (KvK 09213052, VAT NL001642521B87). For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at info@bilife.org.
We act as controller for account, profile, matching and billing data. Messages and posts you send are processed so we can deliver them to the members you choose.
2. Information we collect
We collect:
- Account data: your email address, login credentials, and any phone number or address you choose to store on your account. Your address and phone number stay internal; only email is required.
- Profile data you enter: name, handle, birthdate, the place you set, photos, short and long introductions, personality details, and matching preferences such as gender, body, relationship style and who you are looking for.
- Activity data: likes, passes, matches, chats, feed posts, comments and reports you send or receive.
- Payment data: the subscription and invoicing details needed to charge you. Card and bank payments are handled by our payment provider, Mollie. We do not store full card numbers.
- Technical data: limited log and session data needed to operate the service securely.
The place on your profile is used to show members within the distance you choose. We do not sell location data and we do not track your movements in the background.
3. How and why we use your data (legal bases)
We process personal data on the following legal bases under the GDPR:
- To provide the service, your account, matching, chat and the feed: performance of our contract with you. Matching preferences you add, including details that can relate to your private life, are used only for that purpose because you provide them to use BiLife.
- To process payments and send service-related messages: performance of our contract and compliance with legal obligations.
- To keep invoicing and financial records: compliance with a legal obligation (Dutch tax law).
- To moderate reports, answer support and keep the service secure: our legitimate interests in running a safe and reliable service.
- To confirm you are 18 or older: our legitimate interests and, where needed, a legal obligation to keep the service limited to adults.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for ads, or data mining. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on servers in the European Union, hosted by Hetzner. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls and encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. How long we keep your data
We keep account, profile and content data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, posts and messages are deleted, except where we must keep data longer by law. Invoicing and financial records are retained for 7 years to comply with Dutch tax law. Deleted content cannot be recovered.
We may keep a limited record of a moderation decision where that is needed to protect members or to document a ban.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for marketing. We share data only with:
- Other members, to the extent the product shows it. For example, people within your search distance can see your public profile, and a match can read the chat you have together.
- Service providers acting on our behalf, including our hosting provider (Hetzner, EU) and our payment provider (Mollie). These providers process data only on our instructions.
- Authorities, where required by law or legal process, or where necessary to protect our rights or the safety of members.
A current list of sub-processors is available on request at info@bilife.org.
7. International transfers
We keep your core data within the EU. If a payment provider step involves processing outside the EU, that provider uses safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The BiLife service uses only essential cookies needed to keep you logged in and to operate the service. We do not use cross-site tracking.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- delete your account and associated personal data;
- ask for a copy of your data in a portable format;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior processing.
To exercise these rights, contact us at info@bilife.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or your local supervisory authority.
10. Age
BiLife is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe someone under 18 has created a profile, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify account holders of significant changes by email or through the service. The “last updated” date above shows when the policy was last revised.
